Calming things to do in London in June

I am hoping to get into London this month so have been looking at what’s on, other than retail therapy.

As ever, the capital didn’t disappoint, so here’s what’s got my interest……

Writing & Yoga Workshop with Alice Vincent and Erin Taylor - Saturday 8 June 2024, 9am-11am
Join the Chelsea Physic Garden for this special Writing and Yoga workshop where you’ll find Savour Sessions and Balance Practice delivered via a meaningful new collaboration from yoga coach and writer Erin Taylor and author Alice Vincent (Why Women Grow). This accessible event is open to those looking to slow down, breathe deeply and pay attention to create space and gain understanding. Tickets cost £40.

East of Eden are back running their yoga and sound baths in collaboration with Waltham Forest Council. Bathed in the light of the full moon and guided by East of Eden's very best yoga and sound bath practitioners, it's set to be a very magical experience! If you don’t about this magical place, East of Eden is a stunning studio based in NE London and the studio offers 120 yoga, pilates, barre, sound and meditation classes a week in person, from 45 teachers, alongside the now permanent online offering.

There is a session on 20th June beginning at 7.30pm and while it’s meant to be summer, it’s recommend you take warm clothes and/or a blanket with you, along with your yoga mat so you keeps you nice and snuggly for the sound bath and the unpredictable weather! Dates as well as 20th June at 21st July, 19th August, 18th September, 17th October, all 7.30pm with details at East of Eden.

Back to the Chelsea Physic Garden which will be host to yoga and sound meditation teacher Selina from Live Karma Yoga who will guide a restorative practice and sound bath using organic and ancient instruments, including a drum, bowls, and voice. The Summer Solstice Yoga and Sound Bath Session is on Tuesday 25 June from 6pm - 7:30pms. It will start with a ‘forest bathing’ mindful walking practice in the Garden to settle busy minds and arrive in the body, slow the pace, and connect with nature. You will then be guided through a series of gentle flow movements, indoors, to warm the body and prepare to receive sound and it sounds like this will be a fully body, mind and soul experience.
Tickets cost £25.

If you on the other side of the city why not go on a journey of deep self-exploration through the power of breath with Rob Rea, as he collaborates with Grey Wolfe, a luxury private members’ wellbeing club in Barnes. You will get to experience the transformative power of breathwork, learning techniques to release tension, reduce stress, cultivate a deep sense of inner peace and shift your thoughts and erspectives on life.

Grey Wolfe’s new event series will see one event per month featuring key speakers and wellness leaders, mainly at Olympic Studios in Barnes. Talks and workshops will cover topics such as meditation, sound healing and breathwork, crystal healing, biotech showcases, nutrition and longevity. Breathwork with Rob will take place on Tuesday 25th June, 6-8pm at Olympic Studios, SW13 9HL.

Finally, Nestled in the heart of Parsons Green (I lived there 25 years ago and LOVED it) a new sanctuary offering a unique blend of holistic healing options has opened. Sacred Tones is not just a wellness studio; it’s a multifaceted haven designed to nurture every visitor's mind, body and spirit. Spanning two floors, Sacred Tones has a modern wellness shop, where a selection of eco products, from essential oils and tinctures to holistic kids and pet products, awaits. There is a fab herbal bar, offering a variety herbal infusions, moon milk, adaptogenic matcha and cacao, with herbal mocktails available on Fridays and Saturdays. The journey continues to The Den, a cosy seating area encompassing Moroccan floor sofas and mood lighting designed for relaxation, followed by a tranquil garden where herbs are grown for use in the herbal bar - the only one of its kind in London.

If you go to any of these, let me know what you think and I will do the same.

Take care.
