In Conversation With Maya Manseau

Sometimes I get an interview back in my inbox and the copy takes my breath away. This was the case with the impactful, heartfelt words of Maya Manseau. Mays is a bestselling author, grief guide, small business coach and founder of The Small Business Path and She Creates Peace.

I hope you enjoy Maya’s words and I am going to and read Navigating the Small Business Path:: 10 Steps to Doing What You Love, Earning Your Dream Life, and am excited for the gold I know the pages hold.

What inspired you to start a company in the health and wellness sector and what do you offer?
In 2013, I lost my 23-year-old daughter to leukemia.  Following her death, an unwelcome mantra kept running through my head “Why am I still here when she is not?”  I felt this urgent need to figure out my purpose, my why for being here.  As I found ways to heal deep grief that I experienced, I began to help others with their grief.

My need to find my own purpose and figure out a way to use that purpose to be of service to others really created a natural place of love and empathy for what others are going through.

How does your company uniquely address the health and wellness needs of its customers?
I have a really unique perspective on how to create a small business.  While most business coaches will be profit-focused, I focus on creating a small business where you figure out what you want from life and then craft a plan to do what you love and earn your dream life.  I believe that when you find your profound purpose that sparks your passion, you can have the prosperity that you need.

What major health and wellness trends have impacted your business strategy?
Honestly, I do not follow major health and wellness trends.  To me, I am answering a calling of my soul to be of service in my own unique way and this is something that I also encourage in my clients who are seeking a purpose-driven life.

Could you describe a pivotal moment or decision in your company's development? How did it influence your path forward?
When I first tried to start a small business coaching program I was not going to talk about grief or spirituality.  I reached a point, however, when I realized that I could not separate my “why” from what I do.  I love helping people reclaim their passion and purpose after life didn’t go the way they had planned, because they had reached a place where they are ready to have that special impact on the world that only they can have.

How do you measure success in terms of health and wellness outcomes for your clients or customers?
I measure success simply.  At the end of each day, if I have connected meaningfully with my clients and have done all that I could to help them move forward, then I am successful.

What role does technology play in your business, especially in relation to enhancing health and wellness?
Technology has made the ability to reach out to those that need my help possible.  I work with people all over the world that I would never have met in person.

What are the biggest challenges you face in maintaining the integrity and efficacy of your wellness products/services in a rapidly growing industry?
Integrity begins and ends with setting the intention to have honesty in all that you do.   There is no need to be faced with challenges in integrity.

How do you stay informed and continue to innovate within the health and wellness field?
My innovation comes from my unique set of experiences that only I have.  It comes from the people that I work with and when I listen, they will tell me exactly what they need.  This is true for everyone, so while I am always interested in what others do, they have their own perspective of life and their own gifts to share with the world.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the health and wellness industry?
I would highly encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to do two things.  First, I would encourage them to look at those natural gifts and talents that they often take for granted.  It is easy to think “everyone knows that”, but so many times when I am working with people, it is exactly those natural gifts and talents that they use to create their path forward.

Secondly, I recommend that they tap into their inner dreamer and dream the biggest life possible in this moment.  So often we have become conditioned to believe that there are limits to our lives.  The thing that limits us the most is that we believe there is a limit.
