In Conversation with Georgie Spurling, founder of ARVRA Wellness,
Georgie Spurling is the CEO of ARVRA Wellness and has a strong belief that “health shouldn’t be seen as a privilege,” which is why she created an app to help make that a reality. ARVRA offers users access to expert advice and I am delighted that she has spoken to YOMU about how this came about.

What inspired you to start a company in the health and wellness sector and what do you offer?
I had a difficult journey with my own health growing up, so I understand how difficult it can be to find tools that help you, as everyone is so unique. After working in the fitness industry for over 12 years I realised that the wellness industry was so overcomplicated, expensive, and very privileged. This spurred me to create a product that was accessible and easy for all, with every dimension of wellness in one place. ARVRA is a holistic wellness app with an added human connection, as I feel nothing can ever replace that. We have over 30 experts creating a real breadth of content, tips, and tools to help an individual be their healthiest selves.
How does your company uniquely address the health and wellness needs of its customers?
ARVRA is unique in the fact that we fuse digital with human connection to create a bespoke but easy approach for individuals. We also have a huge breadth of content, meaning people don't have to download 4 or more apps to get all their wellness needs met. We are also unique in our method, we like to help balance the cortisol and adrenaline levels by keeping movement low stress, but highly effective. The ARVRA 'recipe' is totally unique.
What major health and wellness trends have impacted your business strategy?
Burnout has been huge on our radar for a while now with numbers constantly increasing. This is exactly why all dimensions in our app are designed to take you out of that 'fight or flight' response. We also have been seeing that there is a 'comeback' for human connection. Apps are convenient and tech is constantly evolving for the better, but our clients also want real humans, which is why all of our experts are real and on hand for calls/in-house.
Could you describe a pivotal moment or decision in your company's development? How did it influence your path forward?There have been several pivotal moments for us, the first being expanding the dimensions we offered, this meant that there was something for everyone on the app. Adding the 1-1 calls for our corporate clients was also a huge moment of growth for us and we have seen such great uptake of this. Finally, launching with the NHS recently was a MASSIVE moment for us. Seeing how ARVRA fits perfectly into this community is really rewarding. The app is perfect for time-poor, stressed individuals who need a one-stop-shop solution.
How do you measure success in terms of health and wellness outcomes for your clients or customers?
There are several ways we do this, one being our feedback box on the app. We love to work with feedback and if there is any topic that has been requested we will create content on it. This also gives clients a chance to analytically give us feedback on how the app has benefitted them. Secondly, we feedback usage data to our corporate clients. Who is using the app, what section they are using, and noticing workplace trends. Thirdly, we have progress bars built into the app to show how many workouts, mindfulness, or self-development sessions an individual is doing per week. Not only does this keep an individual accountable, but it’s also incredibly useful feedback for corporate decision-makers.
What role does technology play in your business, especially in relation to enhancing health and wellness?
Technology plays a huge role as this is what makes our offering accessible and 24/7 support. The app can be taken anywhere and used anytime to support someone whenever they need it. We are a tech solution but with that added human connection which I don't think can ever be fully replaced.
What are the biggest challenges you face in maintaining the integrity and efficacy of your wellness products/services in a rapidly growing industry?
The human connection, 1-1 calls side of things will be the most difficult aspect to scale. We want to keep that intimacy with individuals, so they feel like they have experts at their fingertips. This will mean growing our team and frequency with each new business onboarded, whilst being strict to keep the quality. Educating people with the most up-to-date research with an expert marketplace.
How do you stay informed and continue to innovate within the health and wellness field?
We react to feedback and change, as well as trends. We have over 30 experts so when we see a trend approaching, we can act rapidly in producing the right content and education. We also will keep developing the tech to make sure the app stays slick and brings people back into it.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the health and wellness industry?
Firstly, find your niche in the industry, it's a crowded place. I am also a big believer that you must have a passion to run your own business, you need to feel that you have a purpose behind what you are doing. It is hard work but if you're following your purpose it's very rewarding.
