Sprinkling Joy This Christmas
This Christmas, Yorkshire-based illustrator Sarah Westwood is capturing hearts and spreading festive cheer with her enchanting Advent series, featuring her beloved dog, Sprocket. From December 1st to Christmas Eve, Sarah unveils daily illustrations on her social media channels, showcasing Sprocket in magical festive settings across Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks and community spots.
With each illustration, Sarah paints more than a picture; she brings to life the beauty of connection, the warmth of community, and the joy of giving that define the holiday season. From cosy village fairs to sweeping coastal views, Sarah’s signature whimsical style transforms familiar scenes into works of art that inspire nostalgia and smiles.
To celebrate the series, Sarah has created a limited-edition Advent Zine, featuring all 24 illustrations. With only 50 copies available, these collector’s items are a true treasure for art lovers and dog enthusiasts alike. Adding a heartwarming twist, 15% of the profits will be donated to Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue, a charity close to Sarah’s heart that works tirelessly to rehome abandoned and unwanted dogs in the area.
“Christmas is about joy, connection, and giving back,” Sarah shares. “This project is my way of honouring the magic of the season while celebrating Yorkshire’s beauty. I hope these illustrations bring a little festive magic into people’s lives and remind them of the joy in giving, whether to loved ones, strangers, or causes that make our world kinder.”
As someone who has a soft spot for Yorkshire, where I went to university and made some unforgettable memories with amazing people, Sarah’s work resonates deeply with me. Her art has a way of transporting you to those cherished moments, filled with warmth and connection. I only wish I had known Sarah back then, her talent and creativity would have made those times even more magical and I am sure we would have had fun at the same time!
